AACSB Renews Accreditation of the College

The College of Business Administration of the University of Detroit Mercy has again received continuing accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.  Accreditation by AACSB International affirms that a school has met the highest standards for business schools worldwide, following a report from visiting deans and measured against strict standards. This designation is evidence of a school’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement in educating future business leaders.

In the report of the visiting committee, the school was especially commended for the service learning requirements of the curriculum, the evident concern for the students, diversity of the student body and the system for measuring and reporting results against the strategic plan for the College.

“Maintaining accreditation continuously over 60 years is gratifying and evidence of our long-term commitment to provide the best business education for our students”, said Gerald Cavanagh, S.J., Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration. “We appreciate the comments of the visiting committee, particularly because they reflect the Jesuit and Mercy traditions of our Mission so well.”

The University of Detroit Mercy undergraduate program has been continuously accredited by AACSB since 1949 and was the first private school in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana to achieve this recognition. The 567 business schools worldwide that hold AACSB accreditation are among an elite group of only 5% of all such schools.
