Mark A. Schmid

schmidVice President – Chief Investment Officer, The Boeing Company

Mark has served as Boeing’s Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for The Boeing Company since August 2003.  Mark and his 20 person investment team are responsible for the management of Boeing’s $70 billion in retirement assets.  He is a member of Boeing’s Employee Benefit Investment Committee and Corporate Investment Committee.

Previously, Mark worked for DaimlerChrysler Corporation (“DCC”) for 17 years in various accounting, finance and treasury positions, including Treasurer at Chrysler Canada.  He managed DCC’s $30 billion pension and 401(k) plans and served on various investment committees.  Prior to DCC, he worked in public accounting with KPMG as an auditor for five years.

Mark graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Detroit Mercy.  He also received an M.B.A. in Finance from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mark is married with five children.  They live in Hinsdale, Illinois.  Mark is involved with his family, community and charitable activities.  He is also active in the Economic Club of Chicago and The Committee on Investment of Employee Benefit Assets (CIEBA).  He serves on the Finance Board of the Joliet Diocesan, the Finance & Investment Committees at Nazareth Academy High School, the NYSE Pension Managers Advisory Committee and the Chicago Mayor’s Pension Commission.
